Wedged between the two Asian powers of India and China, Nepal faces constraints on its economic and strategic autonomy. At the same time, the newly elected Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) inherits longstanding structural challenges that contributed to the 2025 Gen Z uprising, including high youth unemployment and elite control of key economic sectors.
This policy brief examines Nepal’s internal instability and provides recommendations to strengthen its economic resilience and strategic autonomy.
