Trust in political institutions across the Baltic states has eroded following the 2008–2009 financial crisis and subsequent corruption scandals, which have contributed to the rise of right-wing populism. The resulting political instability has contributed to government crises, while the Baltic states’ participation in EU frameworks to counter disinformation remains constrained by uneven national implementation.
This report assesses the rise of right-wing populism across the Baltic states and provides recommendations to mitigate regional instability.
