Suriname’s location on the northern coast of South America makes it a key transit hub for transnational organized crime networks. Victims of trafficking are subjected primarily to forced labour in the gold mining sector, while government efforts to combat the problem continue to face significant governance constraints.
This policy brief analyzes the drivers of human trafficking vulnerability in Suriname and offers policy recommendations to enhance prevention and resilience.
