On 18 May, two teenagers opened fire at the Islamic Center of San Diego, killing three people before taking their own lives. Investigators reported that the perpetrators had been radicalised online, expressed white supremacist beliefs, and drew inspiration from previous mass shootings, including the 2019 Christchurch attack carried out by Brenton Tarrant.
