Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is OTAP?

The Organisation for Threat Assessment and Peacebuilding (OTAP) is an independent, Canadian-based non-profit aimed at bridging the gap between security intelligence and policy-level peace strategies. We offer a unique hybrid model of analysis designed to inform governments, NGOs, and IGOs worldwide on crisis management and fostering peace.

  • Can Anyone Join?

While we mostly cater to disenfranchised young professionals eager to enter the fields of intelligence and policymaking, we will happily work with anyone and everyone passionate about making our world a safer place.

  • What is "Policymaking"?

Many of our colleagues have an academic background in political science or international relations. However, unlike university, we write short articles not only to inform readers in easy-to-understand language, but also to recommend solutions to current global challenges.

  • What is OSINT/HUMINT?

OSINT stands for Open-Source Intelligence, and primarily deals with gathering and analysing data easily accessible on the internet. HUMINT stands for Human Intelligence, which oftentimes requires a bit more digging. To learn more, head over to our partner IN-Network.

  • Why All The Space Theming?

OTAP’s primary goal is to minimise or stop conflict among people regardless of race, gender, creed, or political leaning. To this end, space acts as a great reminder that we only have this pale blue dot, and we should never take that for granted.
